I work in a school with over 1600 students. Resting in the shadows of New York, New York, the district has a small Title 1 population. However, the population is very diverse and multicultural. It boast residences from all parts of the world. In addition, the student body and staff are very supporting of alternate gender roles. Furthermore, the school has a strong autism program as well as large group of students with Down syndrome.
As such, the faculty struggle in meeting the needs of such a diverse cast of learners. The purpose of this presentation is to introduce the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to the faculty and administration of the school. UDL is about designing unit and lessons that are inclusive to all members of the community instead of only a few, which is typical of most curricula (King-Sears, 2009).
Developed using Prezi.com, the presentation is designed for individuals to be able move through the presentation at their own pace and review material as needed. Furthermore, avenues of assessment and feedback have been provided to all members of the audience.
